Called to the BC Bar in 1971.

Has one of the deepest and broadest sets of expertise in real estate law in the Okanagan region. His practice includes everything from purchasing to developing to mortgaging to secured transactions to commercial leasing to First Nations leases to condominium law.

Commercial lending expertise ranges from loan agreements and commitment letters to mortgages to general security agreements to share pledges to debentures to complex secured transactions including transactions where title to the land being used as security is held by a bare nominee trustee company for a joint venture or partnership developer.

In this regard, Mr. Ramsay has acted both for institutional and private lenders including many of the chartered banks and local credit unions. Mr. Ramsay has been involved as counsel to many well-known developers and commercial lenders in the Okanagan in the last 35 years. He has provided legal guidance for the creation of a large number of very successful residential and commercial developments throughout the Okanagan region both on freehold and First Nations leasehold land. This would include all aspects of the property development from disclosure statement to statutory rights of way and covenants, negotiations with municipal authorities, consulting with developers' advisors such as engineers and surveyors, to finalization of the registration process in the Land Title Office and sale of developed properties.

In preparation for his eventual transition to full retirement in the next few years, Mr. Ramsay merged his practice and staff into Mr. Cairns' practice at Thomas Butler LLP in December 2009.

He remains in active daily practice at his Thomas Butler LLP office in Landmark II thereby providing continuity and support for his clients as Mr. Cairns gradually assumes full responsibility for the practice.
