Christopher J.(Kip) Butler was born and raised in Kelowna and obtained his B.A.(Hons.) at UBC and M.A.(Canadian Studies) at Queen’s University (Kingston) before attending Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto) where he graduated with his LLB. in 1975. Since then, Mr. Butler has lived and practised law for over 30 years in Vancouver and Kelowna. He was a founding member of Thomas Butler LLP and its predecessors in Kelowna in 1984.

Mr. Butler’s preferred areas of practise is general litigation with an emphasis on family law matters and insurance problems, including motor vehicle accidents, personal injury disputes and disability claims. He also practises extensively in wills, estates and real estate.

His litigation experience includes many successful trials and hearings in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal of British Columbia and a wide range of other courts and tribunals. He is an active and contributing member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Mr Butler has served the Kelowna community in various capacities including terms as President of the Kelowna Bar Association, Chairman of the Kelowna and District Share Society and Panel Member of the Commission of Review Tribunals (CPP/OAS). He continues to serve his clients in Kelowna and throughout British Columbia, providing strong legal representation tempered with constructive and discreet advice in litigation and related matters.
